The newly inaugurated Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has released the timetable and schedule of activities for its 2027 general election primaries.

The party also pegged the cost of its presidential expression of interest and nomination forms at ₦100 million.

The decision formed part of the resolutions reached at the party’s National Executive Committee meeting held on Monday.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, Ini Ememobong, the party said the timetable and nomination guidelines had been considered and approved by NEC.

According to the schedule, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for all elective positions will commence on May 5 and end on May 13, 2026.

The last date for submission of completed forms is May 14, while screening of aspirants will take place from May 15 to May 18, 2026.

Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be heard on May 21, while the publication of all cleared aspirants has been fixed for May 22.

Ward primaries for all offices are scheduled to hold on May 27, while appeals arising from the primaries will be taken on May 28.

The party’s NEC will meet on May 29 to approve all nominated candidates, while a special convention for ratification of candidates will hold on May 30, 2026.

The party also directed state chapters to ensure mandatory submission of party registers to the Independent National Electoral Commission by Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Under the approved fee structure, aspirants for the State House of Assembly will pay ₦500,000 for expression of interest and ₦1.5 million for nomination forms, bringing the total to ₦2 million.

House of Representatives aspirants will pay ₦2 million for expression of interest and ₦5 million for nomination forms, totalling ₦7 million.

Senate aspirants will pay ₦3 million for expression of interest and ₦7 million for nomination forms, making a total of ₦10 million.

For governorship aspirants, the expression of interest form is ₦5 million, while the nomination form is ₦35 million, bringing the total to ₦40 million.

Presidential aspirants will pay ₦10 million for expression of interest and ₦90 million for nomination forms, making a total of ₦100 million.

The party said female aspirants are exempted from paying for nomination forms and will only pay for expression of interest forms.

It added that youths and persons living with disabilities will receive a 50 per cent discount on nomination forms for the offices of their choice.

The timetable comes ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Independent National Electoral Commission fixing the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
