Pentagon Partners Legal Practitioners has announced the renaming of its National Essay Competition in honour of one of its founding partners, Eghosa Courage Isibor, who passed away on January 26, 2025.

The announcement, which coincides with the firm’s twelfth anniversary, marks the third edition of the competition since its inception in 2022.

The competition will now be known as the Eghosa Courage Isibor National Essay Competition.

Speaking on the decision to rename the competition, Mr. Kanayo Okoye, Managing Partner at Pentagon Partners, paid tribute to the late founding partner.

“Eghosa embodied excellence, mentorship, and a deep commitment to developing young lawyers,” Okoye said.

“This competition preserves that legacy by providing students with a national platform to demonstrate rigorous legal thinking.”

The competition invites final-year law students across Nigerian universities to submit essays on the topic: “Electronic Transmission of Results under Nigeria’s Electoral Act 2026: Reform or Illusion.”

Submissions open on April 1, 2026.

The call for entries reflects the firm’s continuing commitment to academic excellence, youth development, and legal scholarship.

Cash prizes, recognition awards, and mentorship opportunities will be presented to winning students.

Detailed submission guidelines, deadlines, and guiding criteria will be published on the firm’s website and social media platforms.

Pentagon Partners expects strong participation from students across Nigerian universities and anticipates that the competition will become an annual feature supporting outstanding legal writing among emerging professionals.

Founded on April 1, 2014, Pentagon Partners is a leading Nigerian law firm providing comprehensive legal services across corporate and commercial law, governance, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and transaction advisory.

The firm continues to invest in initiatives that shape the development of future legal talent.
