Tanzanian Premier League club Singida Black Stars SC has imposed a three-month suspension on Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, pending a thorough investigation into allegations of match-fixing.

The decision was announced on Friday, February 27, 2026, in an official statement from the club’s Disciplinary Committee, released via its X account and the CEO’s office.

The statement detailed actions against two players:

  • Amas Obasogie: Suspended for three months to facilitate an ongoing probe into match-fixing claims.
  • Khalid Aucho (Ugandan midfielder and Cranes captain): Suspended for three months due to indiscipline and absenteeism from duty.

“The leadership of Singida Black Stars SC, through the Disciplinary Committee, has taken disciplinary action against players Khalid Aucho and Amas Obasogie,” the club stated. It further emphasized the importance of upholding discipline, accountability, and respect for club values among all players and staff.

Obasogie, a 26-year-old regular starter for Singida in the Tanzanian top flight, joined the club in recent seasons and has been a key figure in goal. He recently featured for the Super Eagles, including a substitute appearance in a friendly against Egypt in December. Details of the specific match-fixing allegations including any particular matches or incidents have not been disclosed publicly by the club or Tanzanian football authorities. No formal charges have been filed at this stage, and the suspension is described as precautionary to allow due process while protecting the club’s integrity.

The development comes amid separate reactions, including from Aucho, who denied misconduct and asserted his professionalism in response to his own suspension.

Singida Black Stars stressed that such measures are necessary to maintain the standards expected within the team. The investigations are ongoing, with no further updates provided on timelines or potential involvement of broader football governing bodies.
