Omoyemi Akangbe, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has urged the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to prioritize the welfare of law teachers, describing them as the intellectual backbone of the legal profession.

Speaking at the annual conference of the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT), Akangbe emphasized that law teachers are not merely educators but the foundation of the nation’s legal system. He called on the NBA to provide enhanced support through digital resource access, structured mentorship programs, and academic collaborations to uplift the profession.

“You are not just teachers of the law you are its foundation. And it’s time the NBA made you feel your true worth,” Akangbe stated, highlighting the need for recognition and meaningful engagement for members of the academic legal community.

The SAN also encouraged initiatives that would strengthen the interface between legal education and practice, asserting that empowering law teachers ultimately advances the Bar and contributes to the broader development of justice in Nigeria.

Akangbe’s message underscores a commitment to transformative leadership within the NBA, with a focus on mentorship, professional development, and academic excellence.
