Senator Solomon Aku Ewuga, a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and a prominent political and legal figure, has passed away at the age of 70. His death on Tuesday was confirmed by a family source, citing ill health as the cause.

Ewuga, who also represented Nasarawa North in the 7th Nigerian Senate, was a respected statesman and community leader with a long career in public service, law, and politics.

He began his public service journey as Assistant Secretary for student unions at the University of Ibadan, Jos Campus, between 1973 and 1974, before moving on to various administrative, teaching, and corporate roles, including leadership positions in broadcasting and as managing director of several companies.

Ewuga served briefly as Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State in 1999 and as Minister of State for the FCT from 1999 to 2001. He later returned to the National Assembly as Senator representing Nasarawa North between 2012 and 2015.

Ewuga led law firms and contributed to public relations and advertising, earning recognition for his expertise and mentorship. He played foundational roles in multiple political parties, including as a founding member of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), which later merged into the All Progressives Congress (APC). He also held senior positions in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and pursued governorship aspirations under both the PDP and the ANPP. In December 2023, he formally joined the APC after leaving the PDP.

Outside politics, Ewuga had a deep interest in sports, including squash and golf, and pursued hobbies such as reading, psychoanalysis, and photography. He was widely respected for his commitment to community development, mentorship, and public service.

Senator Solomon Ewuga passed away shortly after celebrating his 70th birthday, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to governance, law, and social development in Nasarawa State and Nigeria.
