Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly launched a fresh assault on Mbaivur community in Mbahimin, near the Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi, Benue State.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers invaded Tse Hyiongo, a settlement within Mbaivur, late Saturday and continued their assault into the early hours of Sunday, forcing residents to flee amid sporadic gunfire.
The attack, which reportedly lasted for several hours, caused widespread panic among locals. Witnesses said there was no visible intervention from security forces throughout the ordeal.
As of the time of filing this report, the number of casualties remains unconfirmed, though many residents have been displaced.
This latest incident comes just a day after a deadly invasion in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area, where over 200 people were reportedly killed in one of the worst massacres in the state’s recent history.
Attempts to obtain official comments from the Benue State Police Command and the Nigerian Air Force authorities in Makurdi have so far been unsuccessful.
