Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has predicted the collapse of partisan politics in Akwa Ibom State by 2027, declaring that all political parties in the state are aligning behind a unified vision of leadership.

Speaking during his midterm empowerment briefing held at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on Friday, Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is now in disarray, claiming its symbolic umbrella “is in shreds and can no longer protect.”

“As I speak with you, there will be nothing like political parties in Akwa Ibom State by 2027. All political parties have collapsed to support Senator Godswill Akpabio for Senate and Governor Umo Eno for Governor,” he declared.

He described Governor Umo Eno as a unifying and God-fearing leader, crediting him for fostering peace and cohesion in the state.

“Umo Eno is not just a man who professes God with his lips; he practices godliness from the heart. He has brought all of us together,” Akpabio said.

The Senate President further affirmed that the political alignment in the state now extends to the federal level, with Akwa Ibom fully supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The event also featured a large-scale empowerment programme, where 1,690 beneficiaries across the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District received various support items. These include:

  • 30 mini buses
  • 67 tricycles (Keke Napep)
  • Cassava processing machines
  • Gas cookers
  • 347 deep freezers
  • 247 generating sets
  • Truckloads of 50kg bags of rice
  • ₦500,000 cash grants to 2,000 individuals

According to Akpabio, the initiative was part of his commitment to grassroots development, job creation, and economic empowerment for his constituents.

The event was attended by party faithful, traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and residents from across the district.
