Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has fiercely condemned her suspension from the Senate, calling it “unjust.”

Recall that on February 20, Natasha was suspended by the Senate for “gross misconduct” following a heated altercation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over a seating arrangement.

In the aftermath, Natasha accused Akpabio of sexually harassing her, a claim which Akpabio has denied. However, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions dismissed her petition on procedural grounds.

Despite the suspension, the lawmaker took to social media to assert that her colleagues’ actions would not undermine her legitimacy as a senator. She emphasized her resolve to continue her duties as a representative of her people.

“Against the culture of silence, intimidation, and victim-shaming, my unjust suspension from the Nigerian Senate invalidates the principles of natural justice, fairness, and equity,” she wrote.

“The illegal suspension does not withdraw my legitimacy as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I will continue to use my duly elected position to serve my constituents and country to the best of my ability till 2027… and beyond.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s statement underscores her commitment to her responsibilities and her unwavering belief in the principles of justice and fairness.
