The House has fixed February 26 for the public hearing of the tax reform bills, following their passage for a second reading by both chambers of the National Assembly.

The decision to hold a public hearing, where input from the public will be collated, was announced by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during plenary on Tuesday.

To this end, the House announced a 36-member Special Committee tasked with coordinating the session and incorporating expertise in tax administration, including the benefits of the tax reform proposal.

According to Speaker Abbas, the committee will be chaired by Abiodun Faleke (APC, Lagos), while the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Seidu Abdullahi, will serve as his deputy.

Other members include Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Nicholas Mutu, Fred Agedi, and Idu Igariwey, among others.
