Hon. Justice C.V.C. Ezeugwu provided valuable insights into the Nigerian legal system and the role of the judiciary during an informative session with interns at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OBRA).

The interactive program aimed to educate the participants on the intricate workings of the country’s legal framework and the significance of an independent and efficient judiciary in upholding the rule of law.

During the enlightening session, Justice Ezeugwu delved into the ways in which the judiciary can improve the Nigerian legal system. He emphasized the importance of interpreting laws with the ultimate intention of upholding justice, ensuring swift dispensation of cases, encouraging alternative dispute resolution methods rather than relying solely on litigation as a revenue-generating tactic, and maintaining uprightness in delivering judgments while ensuring uniformity by following established precedents.

Drawing from his vast experiences, Justice Ezeugwu also highlighted the challenges confronting the judiciary that impede the effective performance of their role. He stressed the need for judicial officers to imbibe the practices of transparency and integrity in carrying out their duties.

The interactive session provided the OBRA interns with a comprehensive understanding of the Nigerian legal system and the significance of an independent and efficient judiciary in upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens.

Justice Ezeugwu’s insights underscored the judiciary’s pivotal role in interpreting and applying laws impartially, thereby fostering trust in the legal system and ensuring access to justice for all Nigerians, regardless of their socioeconomic status or background.
