The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has issued a disqualification notice to Joyce Oduah, a prominent candidate for the position of NBA President. The news came in the early hours of the day, leaving supporters and the legal community in shock.

Despite the setback, Joyce Oduah remains undeterred and has called upon her supporters to stay focused and resolute in the face of this obstacle. In a statement released to the media, Oduah expressed her belief that by standing together, they can overcome any challenges that come their way.

“I want to assure you that I am committed to pursuing my legal rights to ensure that fairness and justice shall prevail,” Oduah stated. “I know that together, we can achieve our goals and overcome any challenges that come our way.”

Oduah, a highly respected figure in the legal community, has an impressive track record. She is the immediate past General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Vice President of the Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU) for West Africa, a Council Member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA), and a former Council Member of the International Bar Association (IBA).

According to sources close to the matter, the ECNBA did not provide any official statement or explanation regarding their decision to the public. However, Oduah was notified personally of the grounds for her disqualification. It is understood that the ECNBA wrote to every disqualified aspirant stating the specific reasons for their disqualification.

The details of these communications have not been disclosed, and it is expected that the aspirants themselves would choose whether or not to make this information public.

As of the time of filing this report, Joyce Oduah has not revealed the specific grounds for her disqualification as stated by the ECNBA.
