The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA), responsible for conducting the July 20th Election into office at NBA, has disqualified Felix Chukwuma Ashimole, also known as Che Oyinatumba, co-publisher of Kubwaexpress, from the election.

In an email sent to Ashimole on May 4th, the ECNBA cited two reasons for his disqualification:

1. His 2024 Branch Practice Fee (BPF) was paid on December 24th, 2023.
2. His second nominator submitted a teller instead of a receipt as evidence of payment within the stipulated time.

This marks the second time Ashimole has been disqualified from vying for the office of Publicity Secretary. In 2022, he was disqualified because the ECNBA could not find the local branch dues receipt of one of his nominators.

When reached for comment, Ashimole stated that there is no cause for alarm and that he will explore the appeal option. He pointed out that it was the NBA that released the payment portal for 2024 BPF in December and insisted that the portal shall be the only means for payment of the 2024 BPF. Furthermore, he noted that the ECNBA requested a teller/receipt as evidence of payment.

In light of this development, Ashimole urges his supporters to keep faith alive and raise the tempo. He expressed confidence that on July 21, 2024, they shall sing a victory song.

This news was first reported on Ashimole’s media platform, Kubwaexpress (https://kubwaexpress.com/).

The disqualification of Felix Chukwuma Ashimole has added another twist to the ongoing NBA election process, and it remains to be seen how his appeal will be handled by the ECNBA.
