In a bid to pursue their legal aspirations amidst financial constraints, the Edo State Law Graduate Coalition has penned a heartfelt appeal to the state government for assistance.

Comprising law students from various institutions across the state, the coalition highlighted the overwhelming burden posed by the exorbitant fees required for law school enrollment.

The letter was addressed to Barrister Osarodion Ogie, the Secretary to the Edo State Government.

Expressing concerns over the plight of many aspiring lawyers who are unable to afford the steep costs associated with legal education, the coalition implored the state government to intervene and alleviate their financial strain.

Their plea comes in the wake of recent developments in Kano State, where the government took proactive measures to support law school graduates by providing stipends and financial aid totalling N500,000.

“In light of the current economic challenges, we find ourselves grappling with financial constraints that jeopardize our pursuit of legal education. The exorbitant cost of the Nigerian Law School fees currently set at N476,000 coupled with additional expenses for study materials, presents a formidable barrier to our aspirations,” their appeal letter obtained by SaharaReporters partly read.

As the Edo State Law Graduate Coalition awaits a response from the authorities, their appeal underscores the pressing need for accessible legal education and the importance of governmental support in empowering aspiring lawyers to fulfill their professional ambitions.
