The Nigerian legal community came together on January 25th, 2024 for a solemn special court session held at the Ceremonial Hall of the New High Court Complex in Asaba, Delta State.

The occasion paid tribute to the memory of the distinguished former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, late Chief George Nwokocha Uwechue SAN.
In attendance was the respected legal practitioner, Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN, who lent further gravitas to the event with his esteemed presence. Clad in formal legal dress, Mazi Osigwe embodied the dignity of the profession as he came to honor the towering legacy of the deceased former Chairman.
In a stirring written tribute, Mazi Afam Osigwe extolled the late jurist’s stalwart commitment to ideals of fairness, equality and justice. He spoke of Chief Uwechue’s visionary leadership and profound influence during his Chairmanship of the Body of Benchers. Fond anecdotes illustrated the late SAN’s dedication to mentoring coming generations of lawyers, cementing his memory as an embodiment of wisdom and humility.
An air of solemn dignity filled the Ceremonial Hall, as lawyers, judges and VIPs across Nigeria united in respect for the accomplishments and memory of the late Chief George Nwokocha Uwechue, SAN.
The occasion marked not just a farewell to this giant of the legal profession, but a reminder of the enduring spirit of mentorship and excellence he represented.
