The call comes ahead of the next gubernatorial elections in Edo State. In a statement on Thursday signed by its state coordinator, Dr Richard Uwaifo, the Ambassadors described Agbomhere as having the academic pedigree, vibrant energy and fresh ideas required to restore good governance in Edo State after years of ‘visionless rule’ by the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The group stated that Agbomhere possesses the education, charisma and networks needed to place the state back on the path of economic prosperity it tread under ex-Governor Adams Oshiomhole before the reversal witnessed under Obaseki.
Uwaifo expressed confidence that Edo citizens will embrace Agbomhere’s aspiration to rebuild the state to its former glory. However, Agbomhere is yet to publicly indicate acceptance or otherwise of calls for him to contest the plum job.
The statement signifies mounting lobbying of competent candidates to take over power in Edo State after the Obaseki years criticized for retrogression in infrastructure and opportunities.
