Senator Ahmad Lawan, the immediate past President of the Senate, has encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the challenges posed by the removal of oil subsidy.

Speaking at the launch of the distribution of 9,000 bags of grains as palliatives to his constituents in Yobe North Senatorial District, Lawan expressed sympathy for Nigerians grappling with the increased cost of living resulting from the removal of petrol subsidy. However, he expressed optimism that the policies implemented by the President Bola Tinubu-led government would eventually yield positive outcomes.

In his statement, conveyed by his Media Adviser, Ezrel Tabiowo, Lawan highlighted that the distribution of relief supplies was organized by his foundation, The Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan (SAIL) Empowerment Foundation. The initiative was carried out at Filin Katuzu in Bade local government area of Yobe State and extended aid to beneficiaries from 60 wards across six local government areas in Yobe North Senatorial District. The relief effort also encompassed Muslim religious groups, Christian communities, and Persons with Disabilities.

Lawan acknowledged the current challenges faced by many Nigerians in securing basic necessities, especially food, due to recent developments. He emphasized the measures taken by the federal government to alleviate these challenges, such as providing financial aid to states and distributing grains. The distribution of 9,000 bags of grains by his foundation was his contribution to complement the ongoing relief efforts.

The former Senate President recognized the impact of recent policies, including the withdrawal of the petroleum subsidy, on the current situation. While acknowledging the temporary setbacks resulting from such policies, Lawan remained positive about their long-term benefits in terms of infrastructural development and improved living conditions.

He reassured the beneficiaries of the palliatives that the distribution was aimed at supporting the most vulnerable members of the community, including those with disabilities and individuals facing economic hardships. Lawan’s message to the beneficiaries emphasized the importance of maintaining faith, offering prayers, and providing support to the government as the nation navigates through the challenges posed by recent policy changes.

Senator Ahmad Lawan concluded by affirming his belief that the current situation was a temporary setback and encouraged everyone to remain optimistic. He reiterated the value of supporting government initiatives while praying for an eventual end to the difficulties being faced.
