Senator Yemi Adaramodu, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, disclosed that the Senate is considering the re-invitation of three ministerial nominees yet to be confirmed for re-screening.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, Adaramodu stated that the issue surrounding the nominees is still ongoing and once the Senate is satisfied, they may be invited to the chamber for re-confirmation.

The three ministerial nominees yet to be confirmed are Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State; Senator Abubakar Danladi from Taraba State; and Stella Okotete, former Managing Director of Nexim Bank from Delta State.

The Senate had previously approved and confirmed 45 other appointees of President Bola Tinubu after a voice vote. However, the confirmation of El-Rufai and two others was withheld pending “security clearance.”

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, clarified that the Senate has so far approved and confirmed 45 ministers out of the total 48 ministerial nominees sent by the President, with the remaining three awaiting security clearance.

Adaramodu emphasized that the decision on confirmation depends on the satisfaction of security agencies and the nominating authorities.

He also addressed the recent altercation on the Senate floor concerning Festus Keyamo, stating that Akpabio’s visit to the Villa was unrelated to Keyamo and was previously scheduled due to security issues, including the coup in Niger Republic.
