*Adjourns House Till July 4

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas on Thursday announced the setting up of seven ad hoc committees that will assist the leadership pilot the affairs of the House pending the composition of standing committees.

The committees announced after the day’s plenary are the Internal security committee, Selection Committee, Media Committee, and Legislative Agenda Committee.

Others are the Rules and Business Committee, Welfare Committee as well as Ethics and Privileges Committee.

However, the House thereafter adjourned sitting till July 4.

The Speaker is to head the Selection Committee with the Deputy Speaker serving as Deputy Chairman while the state caucuses are to send one representative each as members of the committee.

Hon. Mohammed Danjuma (NNPP-Kano) heads the committee on Internal Security while Hon. Julius Ihovbere (APC-Edo) heads the committee on Legislative Agenda.

Hon. Khadijat Bukar Abba Ibrahim (APC-Yobe) is to chair the Committee on Media assisted by Ikenga Ugochinyere while Hon. Iduma Igariwey (PDP-Ebonyi) is heading the Committee on Rules and Business.

The Welfare Committee is to be chaired by Hon. Wale Raji (APC-Lagos) and former Chairman House Committee on House Services while the Committee on Ethics and Privileges is to be chaired by Hon. Tunji Olawuyi (APC-Kwara).

While adjourning the House for three weeks, the Speaker said even though the House was supposed to adjourn for two weeks to allow members to rest, it has to adjourn for three weeks because of the Sallah holidays expected for the end of June.
