In a recent development that has sparked controversy within the NBA Bwari branch, the release of a list containing 118 eligible voters for the upcoming June 16th election has been described as a potential disaster.

Members who claim to have attended the required five meetings were shocked to find their names excluded from the list, raising concerns about the transparency of the election process.

According to multiple members interviewed by Kubwa Express, the irregularities stem from the use of loose sheets to record attendance at meetings. Dr. Olowononi, the Secretary of the branch, allegedly employed this method under the directive of Monday Adjeh, further fueling accusations of manipulation. Dissatisfied members allege that the outgoing Executive Committee had premeditated plans to rig the election by tampering with the voters’ list.

To address the attendance record-keeping issue, a past Chairman had donated a notebook, which was refused by the current Executive Committee. Instead, loose sheets were used, creating a convenient opportunity for manipulation. Critics argue that the loose sheets were often brought out after 5pm, when the venue started getting dark, making it difficult to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the attendance records. Consequently, many sheets reportedly failed to reach the secretariat for compilation, resulting in the exclusion of members who genuinely attended the meetings.

The revelation of the 118-person voters’ list has triggered outrage among the members, who are now rallying against its validity. They strongly believe that this list should not be accepted as the final determination of eligible voters for the upcoming election. With tensions mounting, it remains to be seen how this controversy will be resolved and whether steps will be taken to address the concerns raised by the affected members.

This situation has cast a shadow of doubt over the integrity of the electoral process in NBA Bwari, underscoring the need for a transparent and fair election that upholds the principles of democracy and inclusivity. As the June 16th election date approaches, all eyes will be on the NBA Bwari branch to ensure a resolution that satisfies the concerns of the members and safeguards the credibility of the election.
