Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and Bar mentor, Femi Falana has faulted criticism concerning the competence of Judicial officers in the country.

Falana akin such criticism as being hypocritical including when emanating from the NBA, noting that successful judicial appointments require the impure of the NBA and as such the Association is also to blame for its recommendation and approval of ‘incompetent’ judicial officers for the country.

In a statement by Femi Falana captioned “Sad State of The Nation’s Judiciary”, the foremost human right attorney noted that “NBA officers write impressive recommendations for candidates to become judges and we turn round to complain of the incompetence of judicial officers. The NBA reps in the appointing bodies endorse all appointments of judges.

“Two years ago, a candidate who scored zero in the NJC interview was made a judge. Did the NBA reps kick against the appointment? What was the position of NBA NEC on the matter?

“Even under the defunct military junta, the appointment of judges was a much more serious business based on the vigilance of the NBA.

“But these days, the NJC, FJSC and State JSCs, National Human Rights Commission, Legal Aid Council, etc are peopled by NBA leaders and their friends who are ever prepared to maintain the status quo!
