The practice directions signed by the Honourable, The Chief Justice of Federal High Court, Justice J.T. Tsoho and made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, the rules are to guide the conduct of all pre-election cases in the countdown to the 2023 General Elections.

According to the Honourable Chief Judge, the Directions are made in exercise of the powers conferred on him by virtue of Sections 254, 285(9), (10) and (14) of the Constitution as amended; and Sections 29(5), 84(14) of the Electoral Act, 2022.
It states that the practice directions are made to ensure fair, impartial and expeditious determination of cases, ensure that in all pre-election matters, parties only focus on matters which are genuinely in issue, amongst others.
The Practice Directions are to apply notwithstanding the provisions of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019.
