The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, has urged the general public to disregard a message circulating in the media purportedly emanating from the Commission requesting for companies to make payment to update their status in the CAC database.

In a Notice made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, the CAC said the message did not emanate from them.
“The General Public should disregard the message below purporting to be from the Corporate Affairs Commission
“Please note that the Commission does not request payment to update the status of any registered entity and transactions with the Commission are done strictly via Official Website Addresses as follows:
https://www.cac.gov.ng
https://www.pre.cac.gov.ng
https://www.post.cac.gov.ng“
The fake message is suspected to be work of fraudsters aimed at defrauding persons. The fraudsters send links to emails of entities telling them that their registrations are inactive and asked them to revalidate their profile. A separate link is also sent to the companies which should be used for payment to secure the company name.
