The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Olumide Akpata has expressed concern over the abduction of scores of students in Katsina State, thereby calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to do more in the fight against insecurity.

The NBA President expressed this via his Twitter handle on Sunday.

“The Nigerian Bar Association has received with deep concern, the news of the attack on the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State by yet to be identified gunmen which resulted in the abduction of dozens of innocent schoolboys, with many others unaccounted for.

“The Nigerian Bar Association calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to do more in the fight against insurgency and insecurity in Nigeria especially in the North East and the North West Geopolitical Zones.”

Besides, the NBA President stressed that the responsibility of every Government is to protect the lives of its citizens.

“The security of lives and property remains the raison d’etre of government, and our lives and property, especially those of our vulnerable ones like school children cannot be toyed with”, he said .

Furthermore, the NBA President welcomes the effort of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies.

“We welcome the efforts of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies towards securing the immediate release of these boys. We urge the Police and the other security outfits to make this a priority and leave no stones unturned in actualising this”, Akpata stated.
