The General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mrs Joyce Oduah, FICMC has notified NBA Branch Chairmen, Secretaries & NEC representatives of the decision to produce identity cards for NEC members with a view to checkmating proper identification of members from impostors.

Therefore, she has given a notice asking them to comply with the submission of necessary details for onward production of the identity cards.

This is contained in a statement issued on November 12 by the Secretary which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer.

Meanwhile, the necessary information are to be sent on or before 20th day of November, 2020.

The statement reads:

12th November, 2020.
Dear Sir/Ma,

NOTICE TO ALL BRANCH CHAIRMEN, SECRETARIES AND NEC REPRESENTATIVES: PROVISION OF INFORMATION FOR IDENTITY CARD.

I hope this meets you well.

Please, be informed that all the Chairmen, Secretaries and National Executive Committee (NEC) Representatives of all the Branches of the NBA are requested to submit the following information to the Secretariat:

– Name
– Designation
– Branch name
– Passport photograph.

This is to enable the Secretariat to produce ID Cards for all NEC members for ease of identification during NEC meetings. Over the years, we have realized that non-members of NEC impersonate members to gain access to meetings and collect meeting materials. When actual NEC members arrive, it is usually impossible to trace the impersonators leaving members without materials.

This ID card will help us increase security at meetings; fish out impostors; prevent unauthorized access to NEC meetings and meeting materials; identify current NEC members, and prevent proxy signing of attendance register.
