The Edo State Ministry of Justice has commenced accepting plea bargain requests from Defendants and prosecutors

This is contained in a Notice dated 17th September, 2020 signed by the Attorney-General of the state, Prof. Yinka Omoregbe, and made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL)

“I am pleased to inform the general public that the second Edo State Plea Bargain process has commenced, in accordance with the provisions of section 270 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Edo State, 2018” the Notice reads in part

The learned AG urged interested lawyers to submit requests on behalf of their clients to the Director of Public Prosecutions on or before 2nd October 2020

She said, “Defendant counsel that wishes their clients to avail themselves of this opportunity should submit a Written Plea Bargain applications Request to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Ministry of Justice, on or before Friday, 2nd October, 2020.”

The Committee for review of the requests shall sit on the 5th of October, 2020

“The Edo State Plea Bargain Review Committee will meet on the 5th of October, 2020 to consider Plea Bargain applications from defendants and prosecutors.” the Notice concluded
