No fewer than 833,000 Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as artisans, are to benefit from the federal government’s N75 billion loans to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Director-General (DG), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), Dr Dikko Radda, disclosed this on Friday in Katsina during the closing ceremony of the National Business Skills Development Initiative (NBSDI) programme.

Dr Radda said the most recent survey indicated that there were more than 41 million MSMEs, providing more than 59 million jobs that accounted for over 76 percent of the labour force in the country, hence the need to support the sector for the overall interest of the nation.
