Mr. Manir Faisal, Esq., has decried as unethical the spate in which NYSC officials are campaigning and soliciting for votes for some candidates in the forthcoming NBA National Elections.

This is contained in a statement dated 18th day of July, 2020 which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, which he titled “ENOUGH WITH THIS ABUSE AND UNNECESSARY INFLUENCE BY NYSC STAFFERS!”
He contended that it is inappropriate for officials to be soliciting for votes for some candidates from NYSC Lawyers, stating that their manifestos would speak for them.
“Stop begging us to vote for any person in the forth coming NBA Elections. We have seen the manifestos of the candidates, allow us to vote wisely without any influence.” He said.
Besides, he noted specifically that Community Development Service (CDS) officers should refrain from such conduct as described same as “unethical and an abuse of power”.
“NYSC and their staffers, especially CDS officers, should refrain from using their positions for campaign, it is unethical and an abuse of power.
“They should shun partisan politics as Brig. Gen. Sule Kazaure, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps said on 8 November, 2018:
“NYSC is not a political or a religious organisation, but it is an organ meant for service to the nation and humanity…”” He said.
Furthermore, he stated that influencing young Lawyers through official NYSC CDS Group is an “ultimate propagation of corruption”.
“So NYSC and their staffers should stop influencing young lawyers by indulging them to vote for someone. And campaigns on an official NYSC CDS Group by the CDS Officer or any NYSC staff is unethical, improper and ultimate propagation of corruption. Young lawyers should not allow themselves to be used for cheap political crinkum-crankum.”
He however concluded that having seen the candidates and their manifesto, there is no purpose for anyone to indulge in trying to convince him as it’s being currently done.
“Finally, personally, I don’t need anyone to convince me that a given candidate is the best for the office of the president or whatever office; howsoever high or low.” He concluded.
