The former Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch has called on the Electoral Committee of NBA to verify the list of members of Abuja Branch that was published in the final list of voters released by ECNBA.

This is contained in a letter written to the ECNBA Chairman, Mr. Tawo E Tawo, SAN dated 7th day of July, 2020 which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer.

According to him, he disclosed that the rise in the figures of members of the Branch published in the final list is ‘unprecedented’ because of the current leadership crisis rocking the Branch for about 4 years, which made members to pay Branch dues to Bwari & Gwagwalada Branches respectively.

Besides, he contends that it is nearly impossible for the Abimbola led faction to have 1,000 who are up to date in the payment of their dues.

In addition, he noted that in the face of the crisis, the Branch does not accept cash payment and there is no provision for the issuance of receipts.

Therefore, in the light of these and other reasons adduced, he urged the ECNBA to verify the list as it relates to Abuja Branch as a mark of its transparency to conduct a credible election.
