The Management of the Corporate Affairs Commission(CAC) has withdrawn the earlier Certificate of Registration issued to the Trustees of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly.

This is contained in a statement dated 29th day of June, 2020 signed by the Management of Commission which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer.

In the statement, it was noted that the Certificate was wrongly issued to the Trustees.

“This is to inform the general public that the Certificate of Registration No. IT 144918 issued inadvertently to the Trustees of OHANAEZE NDIGBO GENERAL ASSEMBLY has been withdrawn by the Corporate Affairs Commission.”

Furthermore, it was noted that this withdrawal and cancellation is necessitated by the non-satisfaction of the full conditions laid down for registration.

“The conditions for the issuance of the Certificate have not been fully fulfilled.”

In addition, the Commission advised that the certificate be return by the Trustees.

“The Trustees of the Association have been advised to return the said certificate to the Commission as same has been canceled.”

It would be recalled that Ohanaeze Ndigbo had earlier witnessed a division which necessitated the emergence of a faction which registered with the Commission.

It would be further recalled that while reacting to the earlier registration, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo had remarked:

“Ohanaeze does not need such registration the group is talking about to function as an entity. The Igbo group has been in a existence before most of these boys were born.

“The young men are just being used to create confusion in Igbo land. The chairman of our BoT remains the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe. All the eminent Igbo leaders are in Ohanaeze: Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Prof Ben Nwabueze, SAN, South-East governors, among others, are in Ohanaeze Ndigbo.”
