Is It Illegal To Falsely Claim You Are Married To Someone?

Yes.

It is illegal to falsely boast that you are married to someone you are not married to, to call them my wife/husband and persistently declare that you are married to them when you are not.

They can sue you successfully.

Section 52 of the Matrimonial Causes Act, states that: “A petition under this Act for a decree of jactitation of marriage may be based on the ground that the respondent has falsely boasted and persistently asserted that a marriage has taken place between the respondent and the petitioner…”
