The representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch, today 9th of March, 2020 were at the Bar Beach Police Station with, Mr. Temitayo Igunnu to meet with the DCO, IPO and the Complainant.

TNL learnt that the Complainant gave his own side of the story while Tayo too gave his own side of the story and the DCO, after blaming the Complainant and his colleague for the dehumanizing treatment of Tayo, sought to broker peace.

The NBA, however, did not accept the offer “We, however, could not have a resolution for two reasons. First, we did not have the authority of the Branch to take a final decision. Secondly, the Complainant was hostile, and remorseless throughout the meeting. We were inevitably put off by his conduct and were not ready to even entertain the issue of settlement.” the source said.

The Vice-Chairman of the Branch, therefore, sought an adjournment to report to the Branch and the meeting was adjourned to Thursday, 19th March 2020. We will be going back to the Station with Tayo on the said date.

TNL recalls that Mr. Igunnu was in March 6, 2020 around Apongbon, Lagos battered by some soldiers attached to Bonny Camp while on his way to work.

Eyewitnesses said the young lawyer was handcuffed and bundled to Bonny Camp for challenging a naval rating who broke his car mirror.

Ironically, the naval officer was said to have lodged a complaint of assault against the young lawyer.
