Mr. Olumide Akpata, a Senior Partner at Templars and immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Section on Business Law, SBL, has condemned the attack on a lawyer, Temitayo Igunnu, by soldiers in Lagos.

Akpata said he was on the road all day yesterday and is currently in Kaduna. He knew about the unfortunate incident very late at night.

“I commend the prompt intervention of the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association Lagos Branch in ensuring his release.

“However, it is not enough to get him released.

It is now beyond that. This incident is one too many.

We must get to the root of these issues and ensure that the right to life and the dignity of lawyers and indeed all Nigerians are respected at all times by the rank and file of the Army, Police and other law enforcement agencies.” He said
