Non Confirmation Of Ikpeme: Cross River Not Known To Be Discriminatory, We Can’t Set Dangerous Precedent For Our Children — Sabastine Anyia

I urge Cross River State House of Assembly to review their decision rejecting the nomination of Hon. Justice Akon B. Ikpeme as the substantive chief Judge of the state. I call on all the good people of Cross River State to say no to the dangerous precedent that is about to be set by our Law makers.

Throughout history, Cross Riverians are known to be peaceful, loving, accommodative and hospitable people. We are our brothers keepers. We abhors discrimination in which ever form and manner. This is why the news of the rejection of Hon. Justice Akon B. Ikpere came to me as a rude shock.

I have known her as one of the finest Judges in Cross River State and a caring mother, who breath Cross river in every thing she does. I’m aware how her people in Odukpani Local Govt. Area Of Cross river State are proud of her. There is no way a mother can be a security risk to her own children.

I passionately plead with the Honourable members of the house of Assembly not to set a bad precedent for the future generation.
