The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports that it arrested Sirajo and Sanni, the two sons of the Chief Judge of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Muhammad Tanko.

Spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunnaya made the rebuttal in an interview with our correspondent on Monday.

According to him, the reports were false and that no such arrest were made.

A former director of strategy and communication under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Jackson Ude had in a tweet earlier in the day said the two men were arrested by the secret police and their phones seized.

Ude, who added that all the call logs, as well as messages, were searched, however, said one of the sons had been released on bail while the other is still in the custody of the DSS.

He further alleged that the arrest of the two men was a ploy to arm-twist the CJN to reverse the decision of the Supreme Court judgement on the Bayelsa Governorship election.

He tweeted that it “is part of the schemes to intimidate the Supreme Court to revert the Bayelsa election in favour of All Progressives Congress (APC).

TheNigeriaLawyer recalls that early this month, the apex court sacked the Bayelsa State APC candidate and governor-elect, David Lyon and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue Certificate of Return to Senator Diri Duoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
