Urgent! Deadline For Prisoners To Apply For Community Service In Nigeria

URGENT! DEADLINE FOR PRISONERS TO APPLY FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE IN NIGERIA.

Following enactment of Nigerian Correction Service Act 2019, the Nigerian Prisons was renamed Correctional Centers and several improvements were made. This includes Non-Custodial Measures like; Community Service, Probation, Parole, Restorative Justice and any other measure ordered by court.

Community Service measure is open to prisoners already serving imprisonments imposed on them within the last 6 months before the Nigerian Correction Service Act 2019 came into operation. Such prisoners can apply for community services if eligible. The new law is said to have been signed on 14 August 2019, so 6 months backward will be 13 February 2019 to 14 August 2019.
