Early in 2015, myself and Alex Muoka paid a courtesy visit to late Pa. Tunji Fortunatus Gomez in his house to thank him for his regular attendance at NBA Lagos Branch meetings and events even at the age of 87 years.

In the course of the discussion, Pa Tunji Gomez suggested that Alex Muoka (as then Branch Chairman) find time to honour the elders of the Branch who had at one time or the other served the Bar.
In addressing the concerns of Pa. Tunji Gomez, Alex Muoka ensured that the 2015 Branch Law Week had a programme called ‘Elders’ Night’ which was generously hosted by Mr. Ademola Edu at his expansive residence on Bourdillon Road, lkoyi (through the good offices of Mrs Tolani Edu-Adeola – the law week committee Chair). The beauty of the acceptance of the suggestion by Pa Tunji Gomez is that the Elders’ Night has become a recurring staple of our annual Branch Law Week.
It has become widely accepted as one of the most popular components of our Law Week. In 2016, the Elders Night was hosted by Adewunmi Ogunsanya SAN; Paul Usoro SAN sponsored the 2017 edition; Ebun Sofunde, SAN sponsored the 2018 edition, whilst George and Efe Etomi hosted the memorable 2019 edition of the Elders’ Night at their splendid lagoon-side residence
Alex Muoka is a listening servant leader and he will listen to us more if he is saddled with higher responsibility.
