A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Jibrin Samuel Okutepa has bared his mind on the security challenges in Nigeria.

In a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL), the learned silk warns that politicizing security is dangerous.

“There is danger in politicising, trivialising and tribalising the security issues facing Nigeria. Unless we are united in fighting this common enemy, it will consume all without tribal or religious discrimination.” he says

Okutepa, SAN believes that the security issues bedevilling the country is not of recent origin. He said, “The seeds were sown a long time ago by Nigerians.”

To him, those who allow arms and ammunitions into our country are Nigerians or foreigners with the help of Nigerians. Those who slaughtered others in Nigeria are also Nigerians.

The eminent Senior Advocate of Nigeria, therefore, advises that the root of the insecurity should rather be sought, instead of blame games as that would be the solution

“The way we are looking at symptoms without caring to find out the root cause of this security ailments will not do us any good. Time has come for us all to be angry with this scourge of insecurity and find solutions to it. The blame game must come to an end.”

Okutepa, SAN laments that many Nigerians do not love their country and their hearts are full of wickedness

“The level of wickedness that has entered the hearts of men and women in Nigeria is alarming.

“We have no love for our country, our countrymen and women. Indeed the hearts of men and women in Nigeria are so desperately wicked that we require soul searching and revival.”

He calls on political and religious leaders to come together as patriotic Nigerians to find a lasting solution for the insecurity.

“Our political, spiritual and religious leaders must as a matter of urgency come together insincerity of purpose to find extraordinary solutions to this scourge.

“We cannot continue like this. At the root of all these is corruption.

“We must have a national agenda on security and implement it with all the commitments of patriotism and nationalism if we must have Nigeria where peace, love and unity will reign. Time to act is now,” Okutepa, said.
