I have just received with dismay the news that the Vice-Chairperson of the Jalingo Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Zainab Kishimi was kidnapped at her residence last night.
Zainab Kishimi is a well-respected member of the NBA, a Principal State Counsel with the Taraba State Ministry of Justice and a staunch member of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Taraba State.
Her abduction is deeply troubling and I call on the security agencies to do everything within their powers to secure her immediate release even as we continue to advocate for policies that enhance our security from both the Federal and State Governments.
I also implore the Nigerian Bar Association especially the Jalingo Branch to provide all necessary assistance to the family and the security agencies to ensure Zainab’s release. My prayers and thoughts are with her and her family at this trying time.
