Pursuant to its administrative resolve and unflinching drive to fulfill the “LAWSAN Of Our Dreams agenda”, the president of the Law Students Association of Nigeria, Emmanuel Nwobodo, led a delegation of law students representing the 6 Geo-political zones of the Nigeria on Monday to the Honourable Attorney of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN and as well visited the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN the following day.

In a statement available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL), Nwobodo says the essence of the visit was to duly inform them of what they had achieved in the last 100 days in office and also outline their blueprint for 2020.

“The AGF was distinctly impressed with our achievements thus far and we made the following demands:
– Law school fees reduction
– Scholarship grants for indigent law students from the federal government
– Curriculum overview my the legal council amongst other demands.

” After the closed-door meeting, the Attorney General promised to look into all our demands with alacrity and also promised to partner with us in ensuring the LAWSAN of Our Dreams is duly accomplished.

“It’s our resolve to effectively represent law students across the federation and that we shall continually do.”

Even at their meeting with the Vice President on the 14th of January, 2020, Nwobodo says:

“We made the following demands :
– The LAWSAN Goes To School be made a National project
– Scholarship grants for indigent law students from the federal government
– Establishment of the LAWSAN Trust Fund amongst others.

“After the meeting, His Excellency adopted the LAWSAN Goes To School Project and is willing to make it a National project.
“Also, the LAWSAN Trust Fund which is to aid indigent law students across the federation was also duly accepted by His Excellency.

“Furthermore, His Excellency also advised the Association on avenues of raising funds independently and commended the Association on her giant strides so far, reiterating the Federal Government’s commitment to the advancement of legal education in Nigeria.”
