The Aare Afe Babalola Bar Centre, High Court, Ado Ekiti was filled to the brim with lawyers and well wishers hours before the commencement of the event that had the Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Funminiyi Afuye, Hon Justice Agbomoh of the FHC in attendance among other dignitaries in honour of Aare Afe Babalola at the 9th Aare Afe Babalola Public Lecture a yearly event of the Branch.

The annual lecture was deliver by Prof Senator Banji Akintoye who took participants on a voyage of exploration and history of the African continent and the lopsided set up of the nations making up the countries.

The event came to its peak when the Governor declared the event open and he joined Aare Afe Babalola, SAN to launch the E-Lawyer Scheme instituted in honour of the octogenarian. The Governor eulogized the leadership of Ado Ekiti Branch of the NBA and appreciated them for keying into the agenda of his government as it relates to knowledge economy.

Presentations were made immediately to members of the Branch in their categories. Prince Gbadebo Ibuoye a lawyer of over 30 years post call received for the very senior members, Bade Gboyega, Esq received for Lawyers of 10 years post call while Blessing Ajileye and Akorede-Lawal Deborah received on behalf of middle age lawyer and Corps Lawyers respectively.

The Chairman, Olakanmi Falade could joy contain his joy as he said, ” if you ride a horse in my belly, you will not fall”.

Members of the Branch who later received their Tecno Droidpad 10 from the Executives after the programme appreciated the Executive for delivering on the promise. Mr. Onifade who spoke on behalf of others said it only takes selflessness for the leaders of the Branch to be able to give out a Tablet that worths about Sixty Thousand Naira to over hundred members who paid only ten thousand Naira.

The Branch Secretary, Temidayo Akeredolu, Esq informed our correspondent that the E-Lawyer Scheme is a campaign promise fulfilled.

He stated further that in two previous year, the Branch gave out two cars to two members but the current leadership decided to ensure that more lawyers enjoy from goodies that comes with the Law Week. He stated that the Branch will not relent in ensuring that the welfare of members occupies the front burner.

The Law Week continues tomorrow 5th of July, 2019 with a Public Lecture to be delivered by Aare Afe Babalola, SAN.
