The President of the Nigerian Bar Association Paul Usoro, SAN, in agreement with the Technical Committee for Conference Planning (TCCP), has resolved to give 25 percent discount on the registration fee for the 2019 Annual General Conference.

In a meeting held on Friday, 17th May, 2019, in respect of the forthcoming conference, which was chaired by the Co-chairman, Olumide Akpata it was decided that the Conference fee for lawyers of 1 to 4 years post call and lawyers of 5 to 9 years post call will enjoy 25 percent discount.

A reliable source informed TheNigerialawyer (TNL) that the 25% discount only applies to early bird and that there will be no extension of the early bird.

The Conference fee for other categories of lawyer remains the same. The venue and date of the Conference have not changed either, he added.

Recall that under the administration of A.B. Mahmoud, SAN, the Conference fee was high with packages such as the tablet.

However, this year conference which maintained the same amount is without the tablet package. The only difference is that this year’s fee is with a 25 % discount for the early bird window.

Our source informed us that due to the complaints from lawyers, the TCCP has resolved to provide an all-purpose customized bag with charger attached to it, a flash drive, which can be used anywhere including for traveling.

We further added that the option of giving tablet at the 2019 NBA-AGC to lawyers is ruled out and not in any way in the consideration of the Committee.

This, therefore, means that the fees for this year’s conference is as follows:

1-5 Years:
Early Birds = N15,000

Regular Fee = N40,000

Late/On site Fee = N80,000

6-10 Years

Early Birds = N22,500

Regular = N60,000

On site = N80,000

11-14 Years:

Early Birds = N40,000

Regular = N70,000

On site = N140,000

15-20 Years:

Early Bird = N70,000

Onsite = N180,000

Above 20 Years:

In this regard, the TCCP recommended and same was approved by the NBA President for a drastic reduction in the conference fees for lawyers between the ages of 1-9 years at the bar. In furtherance of this the NBA President approved the TCCP’ s recommendation that lawyers between the ages of 1-4 years and 5-9 years at the bar shall be entitled to a 25% discount on early bird registration. The TCCP also resolved to retain the conference fees as scheduled for the 2018 conference (which was the same as that of 2017 conference). Therefore, the TCCP refused to increase the conference fees that were paid for the 2018 conference, and added a further discount for early birds only for members between 1-9 years of call.
