The angry youths, it was learnt, were from Charanchi, Kaita, Jibia, Kurfi, and Batsari Local Government Areas of the state. They were said to be protesting alleged non-consideration of indigenes in the recruitment exercise carried out by the electoral body. They reportedly claimed that the recruitment was in favour of non-indigenes. The disruption led to a delay in the commencement of the training. It was further learnt that in one of the training centres in Charanchi, a contingency arrangement was made to cater for the restive youths. The Public Relations Officer of INEC in the state, Ibrahim Abashie, could not be reached for comment as of the time of filing this report. Abashie did not answer calls made to his mobile line and did not respond to the message sent to him on the issue. But the commission, in a special announcement on a local radio in Katsina on Saturday evening, warned the youth about the consequences of their action.]]>
