At the Dinner Party/ Reunion Get-Together, held by the Lawyers’ Forum Oyigbo on Wednesday 19th of December, 2018, lawyers, political and community leaders in the area were fully mobilised and sensitized on the need for a branch of NBA in the area.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Lawyers’ Forum Oyigbo, Ugoo Uzoho said that her members travel 35km to Port Harcourt City or 25Km to a neighbouring Abia State to attend or harvest NBA benefits.
“A situation that has foisted grave inconvenience, expenditure, and risk on her members.
“Other judicial divisions in Rivers State have since had their own NBA Branches created for them.
He queried why Oyigbo, which is a cosmopolitan/urban environment with a high population density and very large population of lawyers should be without an NBA Branch.
Speaking further at the occasion, the Executive Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Hon. Gerald Oforji promised to do everything to assist the Forum to translate to an NBA Branch.
He matched his words with action by making a heavy financial donation to the body.
A Royal Father, present at the occasion, Eze Jeremiah Nworenwu, the Paramount Ruler of Iriebe Community also lent his voice to the clamor, and donated to the course.
With the large turn out of lawyers at the occasion, one is left in no doubt that Lawyers Forum Oyigbo is set to become Nigerian Bar Association Oyigbo Branch.
