The General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association,Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju has written a letter to the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikorodu Branch Lagos State, Mr. Levi Adiwaone, concerning an announcement to the effect that the branch election is being organized by the dissolved branch Electoral Committee. According to him, any election conducted against the directives of the National will not be recognized. He, therefore, advised the branch to stay further actions, while charging the executive to pass the information to all members of the branch. ”Be informed that any election conducted by the said Branch Electoral Committee is unconstitutional and same shall not be recognised by the national secretariat. ”I hereby advise that your branch stay all actions until all issues pertaining to or connected with the disputes arising out of the Ikorodu Branch Election are resolved. ”I hope you will convey this directive to all other members of Ikorodu Branch. Please accept the assurances of my highest regards,” he added. In a chat with TheNigerialawyer, he confirmed that the Electoral Committee has been dissolved which means that no valid election was conducted. According to him, the move was as a result of the report gotten from the Electoral Monitoring Committee on the branch. He further affirmed that the chairman of the Electoral Committee announced his resignation following the dissolution of the committee, adding that a new committee will be constituted to conduct a valid election.
