The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured candidates affected by disruptions during the ongoing 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that they will be rescheduled to sit for their examinations.

JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, gave the assurance on Friday in Abuja while addressing concerns raised by candidates and parents during a monitoring visit by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education.
The disruption occurred at the Good Success Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre in Utako, where several candidates were unable to take their exams due to technical issues.
Benjamin acknowledged the challenges but described them as inevitable in a nationwide exercise of such scale.
According to him, while minor glitches are expected across hundreds of centres, the priority remains ensuring that affected candidates are given another opportunity.
“All candidates impacted will be rescheduled to write the examination at a later date and possibly at a different centre,” he said, adding that JAMB has mechanisms in place, including a mop-up exercise, to accommodate those who miss their exams due to unforeseen issues.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to ensuring that no registered candidate is denied the opportunity to sit for the examination, promising that all affected individuals will be accommodated through rescheduling and the final mop-up exercise.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, Mohammed Dandutse, who led the oversight visit, admitted that both JAMB and CBT centres are facing operational challenges.
He, however, assured that steps would be taken to address the issues and improve the examination process.
“We have observed both progress and challenges. As part of our oversight responsibility, we will ensure these issues are addressed and that centres operate efficiently going forward,” Dandutse stated.
Despite the assurances, some parents and candidates expressed frustration over the situation, citing the financial and emotional strain caused by repeated delays.
One parent, David Afolanyo, criticised the recurring technical failures and questioned why longstanding issues had not been resolved.
He also raised concerns about the additional costs incurred by candidates who would need to travel again for rescheduled exams.
Similarly, a candidate, Eunice Peter, who travelled from Kaduna, lamented the inconvenience and expenses she had already incurred after missing the exam on two consecutive days due to the disruptions.
