Rivers State Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi has charged staff of the state judiciary including registrars to ensure they are computer literate to speed up service delivery in the judiciary.

Justice Amadi gave the charge while declaring open a two-day workshop for staff of the state judiciary on the theme; “Repositioning the Staff of Rivers State Judiciary for Effective Service Delivery.

The CJ regretted that a lot of “registrars cannot draft orders and endorse records”.

He called on registrars to be in control of their various courts for maximum productivity and also take advantage of all they can from the workshop.

In his words “we have found out that many of the registrars cannot draft orders, cannot endorse record books why is it so?

“I have said this and I repeat, if you are not computer literate, please find a way to be computer literate. You can see now there is E-filing, we don’t carry files again, judges have complained about many of you, you are not taking that aspect seriously”.

“You don’t even check the computer to know when cases have been assigned to your judges”.

The Acting Chief Registrar of the Rivers State Judiciary, David Ihua-Maduenyi had said the essence of the workshop was to “reposition the judiciary in line with the vision of the chief judge”.

He enjoined staff to render quality services with relevant skills and assured the chief judge that the judiciary under his watch will be taken to an enviable height.
