FORMER Zamfara State Governor Abdul Aziz Yari is optimistic that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will get victory from the Supreme Court’s review of the judgment, which favoured the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in cases over the 2019 primary election.

Yari explained that the APC has filed an application for the review of the apex court’s verdict on the governorship, state and National Assembly elections conducted on February 16 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It was learnt that the APC is relying on the fact that some candidates contested unopposed during the primary election.

They include Yari and three out of seven members of the House of Representatives.

The party, according to the sources, filed fresh application at the tribunal to seek for explanation on the position of the unopposed candidates.

Yari, who spoke on Saturday at his home in Talatar Mafara during an interactive session with APC stalwarts from the 24 local government areas, said there were areas with loopholes in the Supreme Court’s judgment.

He said the APC is praying the tribunal to review those areas, adding that the party is expecting a positive result.

“We believe and told our people that it was ordained by God. We have the people in our hearts. We told them to abide by the judgment to save lives and property of the citizens of Zamfara State. We have the people on our side.

“Had it been we disagreed with the court ruling, only God will know the height of calamity that’ll befall the state, but we don’t want that to happen to our people,” Yari said.

He consoled with the victims of different natural disaster that occurred in various local governments across the state.

He said a committee will be set up to oversee the marketing of farm produce, which is having negative effect on farmers in the state.
