*Urges Members To Look At His Manifesto Published On The ENBA Website
*Answers Key Questions As To His Plans When Elected

The Chairman of the welfare committee and candidate for the position of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) President in the forthcoming election, Yakubu Chinoko (Y.C) Maikyau SAN alongside his team made an appearance at the NBA Keffi Branch. The learned Silk later recieved a distinguished merit award for the Branch.

The learned Silk and his team had been warmly received by the Branch Chairman, Yakubu Moses Ede who not only hosted and welcomed Maikyau SAN and his team, but introduced the learned silk to members of the branch, including the Pioneer Chairman, Eric Irehovbude Esq amongst many others.

Welcoming Maikyau SAN and his team to Branch, Mr. Eric when given audience to speak, stated in clear terms that he was supporting the candidacy of the learned silk. “For those persons always asking whose side am I? Let me tell you that this is were I belong “, He said pointing at Maikyau SAN.

Appreciating the warm reception, Y.C Maikyau SAN apologized to the Branch for the short notice he had given them before storming the branch, and he went on to express his feelings, describing Keffi Branch as bo lesser branch of than any other branch of the NBA. He also thanked the Chairman of the Branch, Mr. Moses Ede for doing an amazing job in convening a large gathering of members to interact with him, despite short notice. The learned silk went on to confirm his aspiration to run for NBA President. He stated thus: “like Mr. Eric Irehovbude Esq said, a lot has been shared on various platforms on my aspiration, from my profile and the manifesto has been submitted to ENCBA”.

The learned silk hailed the current NBA administration led by Olumide Akapata, stating that the NBA President had done so well and that he could say this with full chest as he had been privileged to work with the current administration as the Chairman of the Welfare committee. He also commended the administration of Olumide Akpata on the resuscitation of the NBA ICLE, what that intends to do is to build our capacity for all it cares is in this profession wherever you are, never mind that you are in this location, you are a global practitioner of law. The learned silk assured members that as contained in his manifesto, if voted, his administration would pay for 1000 additional beneficiaries of the NBA-NHIS in the first year of our administration and another 1000 in the second year, in addition to renewing the subscription of the initial 1000 beneficiaries, such that at the end of our administration, 3000 of our members would have been enrolled in the NBA scheme.

Furthermore, Y.C Maikyau SAN urged members to look into his manifesto and hold him to account to everything he put down there. Thus, in the course of the interaction, Mr. Maikyau SAN responded to some questions.

As to whether he intended to support LOAN? Mr. Maikyau SAN said on the issue of poor salaries to law officers despite the risk in their jobs, he promised to work closely with the President of LOAN for the actualization of the registration of LOAN as a trade union and he is also in support of the ongoing case on it.

As to whether he intended continue the free seal? Mr. Maikyau SAN assured the members that he will not stop giving free seal to financial members and that the expiry date on seal is statutory.

Later on, the Chairman of the Branch, Yakubu Moses Ede honoured Mr. Maikyau SAN with an Award for his immense contributions towards the growth and development of the legal profession.
