The 2022 NBA Calabar Law week kicked off officially with an opening ceremony on Tuesday the 5th of April, 2022.

It was gathered that the opening ceremony and the 1st to 3rd plenaries were very attended. President Olumide Akpata delivered a heartwarming Goodwill message.

The key note speech, delivered by Tein T. D. Jack-Rich was enriching as he spoke to the theme of the Bar week: WE, THE  PEOPLE: AGENDA FOR NATIONAL CONSENSUS.

The 1st to 3rd plenaries on “DEFINING NIGERIA’S FUTURE, RESTRUCTURING AND FISCAL AUTONOMY,  THE ECONOMY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT” and “THE ROLE OF INTEGRITY PILLARS featured excellent moderators and panelists. Mr. Frank Tietie who spoke on the 1st Plenary, stressed the need for the political class to take the people seriously and ensure that the business of government caters to the needs of her citizens.

He decried the situation where Chapter II of the Constitution, in one breathe, assured the people that government would provide certain basic necessities and in the same breathe made the enforcement of those necessities non justiciable.

Our correspondents at the event reported that participants at the sessions were thoroughly satisfied with the 1st day of the week and were enthusiastic about attending other sessions of the WEEK.

For plenary sessions today, TheNigeriawyer(TNL), reported  that the trio of Y.C Maikyau, SAN, Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN and Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, will be speaking today and have arrived in Calabar in preparation to attend today’s plenary sessions.

While Y. C. Maikyau, SAN and Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN would be sharing their thoughts on the topic: THE ECONOMY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN would be moderating the session on WOMEN IN DEMOCRACY.

Day 2 of the NBA Calabar law week also promises to be enriching!
