The Chairman of the NBA Welfare Committee and NBA Presidential Candidate, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau SAN has praised women as builders of homes and societies.

Maikyau who spoke while receiving an award an award appreciation from the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) for his contribution to making the FIDA law week a success, encouraged women to take up more political and leadership roles in the country.

Y. C Maikyau SAN who was the Chairman of the event, in delivering his speech attested to the importance of women in the society, he acknowledged the fact that women bear the responsibility of keeping the home and society as one. He also appreciated women for bringing us into the world and also reiterated his advocation of the involvement of more women in politics.

He referred to his proposal for the amendment of the Constitution to eliminate the requirement of Political Parties as a platform to run for elective positions; this he said because such political parties are controlled by a few, which has hampered the chances of our women in Politics.

At the NBA level, he encouraged the Female Lawyers to rise up to the occasion in bringing the Nation out of the woods in our task to reposition, recover and restructuring the Society.

He was accompanied to the event by Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN, Aminu Sani Gadanya, Chairman NBA Kano, Yemi Akangbe, Immediate Past Chairman Lagos Branch, and Nwabueze Obasi-Obi, Partner Y. C Maikyau & Co.
